Improved Sanitation Planning: What is an Excreta Flow Diagram (or Shit Flow Diagram -SFD), How Do We Prepare It & Case Studies from Durban (South Africa) and New Delhi (India)

This workshop provided a background to the tool, how it aids sanitation planning, how to prepare one, and case examples.

The WRC with the assistance of its stakeholders aims to apply the tool and its standardised methodology in South Africa with the ultimate objective of performing a national diagnosis of excreta management and establishing the regional capacity within South Africa to prepare high-quality excreta flow graphics. 

CSE-India, one of the partners of the initiative, introduced the tool and provided training on how to prepare an SFD for their province, city or town. A localized case example also presented.
